Kyle Richards on Repairing Her Relationship with Lisa Vanderpump — Can Lisa Rinna Do the Same?

Kyle Richards doesn’t think Lisa Rinna and Lisa Vanderpump‘s newly repaired friendship is going to be smooth sailing from here on out.
Visiting PEOPLE Now recently, the 47-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star said the the two former friends will likely be able to move on — but “there’s always going to be a little [fight there].”
“We all want to do the politically correct thing, but it just always doesn’t work out that way,” she admitted.
If Richards has insight into what it’s like to be on the outs with Vanderpump, it’s because she’s been there herself. While two longtime friends are close now, they had their fair share of ups and downs on the show — often due to the outside influence of former Housewives like Brandi Glanville and Kim Richards.
“It was hard navigating a friendship through a reality television show,” Kyle said. “We’ve had so many people come in and try to start trouble between us. She said things that really upset me and I said things that really upset her. Now, we’re just very protective of our friendship. And we’re like, ‘Let’s not let anything mess with it.’ ”
In fact, they’re so close that Richards said Vanderpump is a large reason she continues to do the show — which is now airing its seventh season.
“We have the most fun together,” said Richards. “And we really get each other’s sense of humor and we just die laughing together. And I couldn’t imagine doing a show — with all the drama and negativity that comes with it — not being able to laugh too. I could not do the show if I wasn’t laughing at times. And I do still laugh and have a lot of fun doing it — in large part because of Lisa Vanderpump.”
As for any advice Kyle would give Rinna on fixing things with Vanderpump, the boutique owner didn’t have any.
“The only advice I ever gave Lisa Rinna was when she first started the show, and I said ‘Always be yourself — always be true to yourself,’ ” Richards recalled. “‘Cause at the end of the day, you’re going to have to live with anything you said or did. Whether you get heat for it or not, Lisa, if that’s how you felt? You can live with that.’ ”
