Kyle Richards Reveals Why She’s “Anxious” About Portia Umansky’s College Journey

Kyle Richards says there’s now one topic that dominates her family’s dinner discussions: Portia Umansky’s post-high school plans.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mom revealed this during a recent interview with The Daily Dish, when she shed more light on her youngest daughter’s college search.

“That’s been, you know, taking over the majority of our conversations,” Kyle said. “Our dinner conversations are about which school she should apply to and what she’s going to write for her personal statement, and all the family weighing in on where she should apply, what’s the best state for her to move to that we could all visit all the time.”

Kyle couldn’t help but laugh while reflecting on all the input; however, she admitted that the experience was somewhat bittersweet.

“I’s going to be hard, obviously, when she actually leaves,” she continued. “And I know she’s very nervous about that, which also makes me feel anxious. But, you know, I’ve survived three times before, so hopefully, I’ll survive this time, too.”

Kyle — who is also a mom to daughters Farrah Brittany, Alexia Umansky, and Sophia Umansky — previously revealed that Portia began touring colleges in the spring of 2025, months before she began her senior year of high school.

"She wants to go, she thinks, to the University of Miami for sports management," Kyle explained during a September 24 Amazon Live stream. "She was a manager of the boys' tennis team and the basketball team, and now she's just like, 'I like to boss people around.'"

Since then, Kyle and her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, have taken their daughter to tour multiple campuses in Texas and Florida. And, according to Kyle, Portia liked what she saw in the Lone Star State.

“This weekend, I took my youngest, Portia, to look at colleges, which is so crazy," Kyle told Extra back in April. "I went to Austin, we went to Dallas, we went to Fort Worth...TCU [Texas Christian University], and then Mau took her to [the University of] Miami, so we're doing the rounds right now.

“TCU she liked a lot, also [Southern Methodist University]," Kyle continued. "We want less partying and more studying and fun."

While Kyle’s three eldest daughters have worked alongside Mauricio in the real estate business, she doesn’t expect Portia to follow in their footsteps.
